Watch this space for dates which we'll announce in the very near future!
Our new CD, a follow up to When Night Falls with the Steve Fishwick/Osian Roberts/Frank Basile sextet, when to print today. We recorded it in NYC last September with piano ace Jeb Patton, Bass master Mike Karn and our very own Matt Fishwick on drums. We're very excited that it will be out soon! Watch out for touring next year.
Also if you're interested in studying jazz trumpet I'm now offering hourly lessons in a central London location. Plus I have a special deal for people who book 5 lessons in advance. Please go to the 'teaching' page for details!
I'm very pleased to announce that I will be joining the teaching faculty at Leeds College of Music as their principal Jazz trumpet lecturer. I'm very much looking forward to starting work in September!
Very excited about the release of our new album 'When Night Falls' featuring the amazing Frank Basile from New York, one of the best Baritone Saxophonists in the world today. Also appearing on it is the great pianist Albert Sanz from Spain and our very own Matt Fishwick on drums and Dave Whitford on bass. We will be touring in the UK in February 2014 to promote the CD.
I recorded a new album at Derek Nash's studio in November last year and I'm now working on getting it out. Hopefully it won't be too long before it hits the shelves (or these days it's more likely to be Itunes or some other music download site!). It features the unusual line up of Ross Stanley on Piano, Tom Cawley on Fender Rhodes/Keyboards, Tim Thornton on Bass, my brother Matt Fishwick on drums and Alex Garnett graces us with his playing on three tunes. As you might have guessed from the instrumentation, it's a little more contemporary than my previous outings. Hopefully people will find it interesting. I'll put some taster clips up soon....
You can hear me playing the jazz trumpet solos on the new Ian Dury bio-pic 'Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll' with Dylan Howe on drums, Chris Hill on bass, Chas Yankel (from the Blockheads) on piano and Andy Serkis on Tenor Saxophone. The soundtrack has just been nominated for a BAFTA...
The Osian Roberts/Steve Fishwick quintet's latest album '...With Cedar Walton!', featuring the aforementioned legendary pianist and bass great Peter Washington, is out now. It will soon be available in all good record shops and and CD baby but if you can't wait that long contact me or Hard Bop Records (www.hardboprecords.com) directly. Thanks to everyone who came to the launch gig at the Spice Of Life, we had a great night, so thanks for your support...!
A TV program, made by Victor Lewis Smith, featuring a full hour long set of our band at our (now defunkt) long running Monday night residency gig at the Sir Richard Steeles pub is being shown on Saturday June 20th on Sky Arts 2. 'Jazz From a British Pub' will be repeated all of the following week (I think!). Featuring Daryl Kenworthy (Tenor), Leon Greening (piano), Dave Chamberlain and Julian Bury (bass), Steve Brown (drums) and yours truly on trumpet.

I just got back from Prague playing with the Osian Roberts/Martin Sulc Jazz Orchestra featuring Svatopluk Kosvanek where we did an album release party at a very beautiful venue- Prague castle, in the presence of the Czech president!
The gig and album features Czech/New York bass great George Mraz and American piano legend Hod O' Brien. You can hear clips from the album on this site (Jean De Fleur' and 'Too Much!'). Album available now on the Czech art label.
